Moreton-in-Marsh is a market town in the Evenlode Valley, within the Cotswolds district of Gloucestershire. The 2021 census counted 5,010 people in its built-up area. The town sits on a flat, low-lying site surrounded by the Cotswold Hills. The River Evenlode rises nearby and runs around the edge of the town.
Moreton stands at the crossroads of the Fosse Way, now the A429, and the A44. Abbot Richard of Barking began developing it as a market town between 1222 and 1246.
