Filton is a town and civil parish in South Gloucestershire. With Patchway, Stoke Gifford and Bradley Stoke, it forms the North Fringe of Bristol. Its built-up area had 10,960 residents at the 2021 census.
The name comes from Old English words meaning “hay farmstead”. At the start of the 20th century, Filton was still a small farming village. However, plane building began in the Bristol Tramways sheds in 1910, and aero-engine work followed in 1920.
Concorde was later built here, in the late 1960s and 1970s. In 2003, the last Concorde flight ever made landed back at Filton. That aircraft is now the centrepiece of the Aerospace Bristol museum, which opened in 2017.
Filton Airport closed in 2012. As of 2026, the old airfield is being redeveloped as the new Brabazon neighbourhood. Plans allow for up to 40,000 homes, and a new Bristol Brabazon railway station is under construction nearby.

Districts within the town include East Filton, Filton Park and Northville. Housing in Filton Park is mainly semi-detached and was built in the 1930s. Meanwhile, homes from before the First World War tend to be quite large, with generous gardens.
