Highworth is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Swindon, in north-east Wiltshire. It lies about 6 miles north-east of Swindon town centre in a straight line, near the Oxfordshire border. The 2021 census recorded 7,930 residents in its built-up area. Highworth Town Council handles local matters, while Swindon Borough Council, a unitary authority, runs other services.

The town stands on a hill above the upper Thames Valley. At 133 metres above sea level, it is the highest town in Wiltshire. Its origins and layout are medieval, and it received a charter for its market in 1206. That market is still held weekly.

Highworth is notable for its Queen Anne and Georgian buildings, from its heyday in the 18th century. In particular, the centre of the old town has been a conservation area since 1976. The Highworth branch line once linked the town to Swindon, but it closed to passengers in 1953. Today the A361 runs north to south through the town. Meanwhile, the Great Western Main Line passes about 3 miles to the south.
