In touch with the latest developments

There have been many developments in energy saving over the last 20 years. However the last 4-5 years have seen the greatest leap forward. 20 years ago, we had COPs of 2.8, in other words systems could produce 2.8 kw of energy from every 1kw used. Today, we can offer heat pumps with COPs of over 6.2. And with the cost of heat pumps and heat recovery units coming down, it is now much easier to justify installing this new technology. Most heat pumps and heat recovery units pay for themselves in less than five years.

In the domestic market, things are changing too. With the introduction of air-to-air, air-to-water and solar panel heating, we can now dramatically reduce our clients' heating costs. As the new Government's legislation comes into force (October 2010), builders and developers are under increasing pressure to embrace this new technology.

The benefit to the general public is that the installed cost is coming down while fuel prices are rising, so it is only a matter of time before these kind of systems are widely installed throughout the country.
